Getting to know my Island(s)

                                                                   Antigua and Barbuda

The culture of Antigua and Barbuda is majority Afro-Antiguans which makes up 87 percent of the population ! The islands also have small percentages of Portuguese, middle eastern, and other small mixed groups. The history of these beautiful islands start by the hunter/ gatherers called the Ciboney and The famous Christopher Columbus was the first sight the islands but, didn't stay because of the water. The islands weren't settled again until 1632 by the British . In Antigua and Barbuda their main language is English and then some speak creole amongst others.

The islands practice many different types of Religions mainly different forms of Christianity like Anglican, Methodist, Catholic and more that influence their African beliefs.

The foods that are common there are places that are found in the U.S. like KFC and Subway that attract tourists a lot there and gives them more business and income.  The island has also always imported their goods from the British and American colonies .Their national dish is Fungie and Pepper which is a dish mainly made from cornmeal.

I personally do not believe that this has led me to a misrepresentation of the people and the islands as a whole. The topics that interest me the most about these islands would have to be the history because it's so much to learn and understand about the obstacles the islands have gone threw throughout the years to be where and how it is today.

  1. Before this post I didn't know anything about Antigua and Barbuda. I thought this post was kind of short, though I still think this was a good effort.

  2. I think your post is very interesting. It is brief but does have good information. I do like how you try to connect certain things to the U.S like the eating places. I will say quote information that is used in the post from other sources. Youi should have at least three in text sitations because you have three sources listed. I can not tell what is yours and what is the websites. Overall good effort and keep working at it to get better.

  3. The blog post is very interesting with facts but the picture placement can be better and whole alignment with the wording can be better as well.

  4. Hello Aniya! Your blog is quite informative and it is apparent that you have put a lot of effort into researching. It seems like you've covered all of the general aspects we were assigned to include such as: explaining the different ethnicity groups, foods, tourism, and religion! In addition to that, I believe that it is important for you to make sure that you are citing your sources in MLA format, which is explicitly stated in the rubric. Overall, your blog was nicely formatted and I enjoyed reading it!
